Christian Church (Disciples of Christ)
North Central Christian Church is one of over 4,000 churches in North America that is a part of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ). The Disciples movement began as a reaction against the creeds and doctrines that had created divisions among
Christians. In an effort to promote unity and tolerance, our church does not require belief in a formula, creed or doctrine
as a test of faith.

We believe:
- In testimonies of faith rather than man-made tests of faith.
We ask all new members a simple question, "Do you believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of the living God and do you accept
Him as your Lord and Savior?"
- In faith, unity; in opinions, liberty; in all things, love. The unity that
we seek requires neither an uncritical acceptance of any point of view, nor a rigid formulation of doctrine. The common thread
that runs through all is mutual understanding and love.
- The Priesthood of All Believers. All Christians are called to minister to
others and to participate as equals in the worship of God. Recognition is given to those called to serve the church as ministers,
but their task is to enable the ministry of all Christians rather than to do the work of ministry for us.
- In the two Sacraments Ordained by Jesus Christ:
- Baptism – Following the example of Jesus in the River Jordan, we baptize
believers by immersion, however we recognize and accept the baptism of Christians from other churches. Mark 1:9
"In those days Jesus came from Nazareth of Galilee and was baptized by John in the Jordan."
- The Lord’s Supper – Weekly at the Communion Table, Following the
instructions of Jesus to the Twelve disciples in the upper room, we remember the sacrifice of our Lord "Do this in remembrance
of Me." I Cor. 11:24
Open Communion
"Disciples congregations celebrate
the Lord's Supper every Sunday. The table is open.
That means that all Christians are invited to respond to Christ's invitation to draw closer to Him around the communion table.
For Disciples, the open table is a powerful symbol of our deep commitment to Christian unity. The open table honors diversity
even as it celebrates unity in Christ." Freedom
to Believe....
Our members are free to believe and act in accordance with their perception of God’s
will for their lives. We believe our members are called to study the Scriptures and to seek the guidance of the Holy Spirit
in their search for truth.
